2002 - The DD Council partners with former Governor Ray and former Lieutenant Governor Sally Pederson to launch ID Action during Building Bridges day at the Iowa State Fair.

2003 - ID Action begins traveling the state with its Advocacy University courses, arming hundreds of Iowans with disabilities with self-advocacy skills and tools.

2004 - ID Action encourages these early advocates to head to the polls with its first-ever Get-Out-the-Vote initiative, contributing to higher voter turnout among Iowans with disabilities and noted among the major media in Iowa.

2005 - ID Action honors its first-ever Citizen of the Year at Advocating Change Day by recognizing an individual who demonstrates a firm commitment to advocacy and civic participation.

2006 - Advocating Change Day achieves its highest level of participation with more than 700 Iowans with disabilities, family members and other advocates converging on the Iowa Capitol to make their voices heard.

2007 - Introduced Lobbyist Apprenticeship program.

2008 - Launched new ID Action project web sites.
